A one-day conference was held in Kabul in December 2019, bringing together about 100 participants from organizations including the Ministry of Education, Kabul University, DDL, and others. The participants discussed means to support national and minority languages in Afghanistan. Participants discussed who was doing what, what is lacking, and what recommendations they proposed to the President’s Office for language development.
Latifa Majidi from CW4WAfghan delivered a presentation on DDL and its impact on Afghanistan’s national and minority languages, particularly our efforts to digitize materials in six languages, volunteer translation efforts, material sustainability, and usage. CW4WAfghan was also represented on the working group for Publications, Digitization, Libraries, and Standardization, and submitted recommendations to the MoIC Language Development Minister Adviser to be compiled for the President’s Office.
